HBCA - RM of Alexander Ward 1 Councillor Candidate Questionnaire
Purpose: This questionnaire is intended to give Hillside Beach residents an opportunity to learn about the candidates seeking election on October 28, 2026 as RM of Alexander Ward 1 Councillor. Each candidate is being given the same questions and an opportunity to respond in their own words.
Responses will be shared with HBCA members to help residents become more informed about the candidates, their priorities, and their approach to local government.
Please keep responses concise and focused on the question. Please limit each answer to approximately 150–250 words.
1. Please introduce yourself to the residents of the RM Alexander, specifically Hillside Beach.
Please include your background, experience, community involvement, and anything else you feel residents should know about you.
2. Why have you decided to run for Ward 1 Councillor?
What motivated you to put your name forward at this time?
3. What do you believe are the most important responsibilities of a municipal councillor?
4. What are your top three priorities for Ward 1 if elected?
Please identify three specific areas you would like council to focus on during the next term.
5. What do you believe are the biggest challenges currently facing Ward 1 or the Hillside Beach area?
Please identify the issues you believe require the most attention.
6. What would success look like at the end of your term?
What specific improvements or outcomes would you hope residents could point to?
7. How should council balance the need to maintain municipal services with residents' concerns about property taxes?
No need to comment on the Provincial Education Tax, keep this to Property Tax only.
8. How should the RM Alexander handle capital projects when there are more projects requested than available funds?
9. What factors should RM Alexander council consider when reviewing new residential, commercial, or multi-family development in Hillside Beach or Ward 1?
10. What would be your plans for the following in Hillside Beach and Ward 1:
· Old boat launch at the end of Hillside Point Road?
· Lagoon weed management and dredging?
· Road safety?
· Fire safety and emergency planning?
· Waste and recycling services?
· Community club facility?
· Affordable housing or senior housing?

Responses will be distributed to HBCA members in the same format for all participating candidates.
To provide a fair opportunity for comparison, candidates are asked to answer the questions directly and remain within the suggested response lengths. Minor spelling and formatting corrections may be made before publication, but the substance of candidates' responses will not be altered.
Candidates who choose not to answer a question may indicate “No response.”13.
