The Hillside Beach Trails Project

Adopt a Trail Program

The Hillside Beach Trails Project is a volunteer-based program in which HBCA members maintain paths in the Hillside Beach area.

In 2023 – 2024, HBCA initiated and completed an “Adopt a Trail” project with trail signage. The Sunset trail signs can be found throughout the community, with volunteers maintaining the trails. There are a few trails left to be cleared or marked. We now have two volunteer leaders (Marie and Jim) to manage the existing community trail network.

HBCA members can adopt a path for a minimum 2-year term. Adoptees must be HBCA members and maintain a current membership over the years. Adopted owners will maintain the path of their choice and will have the ability to name the path for the term.

Name plates will be provided and installed by the HBCA.

It is the expectation that the adopted owner will perform basic maintenance throughout the season as necessary.

Basic maintenance includes:

  • Cutting grass

  • Trimming of low-hanging branches

  • Trimming of grass around rocks and stumps

  • Removing debris

  • Contacting HBCA about any hazards

*Important: When maintaining a path, please be cautious of poison ivy and hazards such as tripping and low-hanging branches.
